Is CrossFit more effective than bodybuilding?
CrossFit is best for weight loss, building muscle and improving cardiovascular capacity. Bodybuilding is best for body building.
What you just said sounds redundant.
CrossFit is more effective for getting trim and fit. Body building is best for building large muscles.
CrossFit results in a lean, trim figure.
But it won't build up large muscles intended for show and competition. Though it may help.
How so?
CrossFit is good for losing fat in the first place, if you are trying to get from flab to fab. In some cases, it is also a good thing to do on rest days.
CrossFit and rest days are opposites, or should be.
Doing many Cross-Fit boxes or activities helps you burn energy and fat, and it is a good alternative to just jogging as long as the CrossFit workout isn't using the same muscle groups as the prior day's weightlifting workout.
I've heard of people going to the hospital after doing hundreds of pushups and sit ups.
Now a body builder who was lifting weights shouldn't do crossfit workouts with hundreds of pushups. That's how you overwork muscles to the point that they explode.
You want them to explode and stand out.
I mean literally explode.
That can't happen.
Yes, it can. It is called rhabdomyolisis.
I think I heard of that as Rhabdo.
If the muscle cells explode, they die. You'll swell up like a hot dog before they die, and you'll never get your muscle strength back.
That would make CrossFit the enemy of bodybuilding.
Overdoing a workout in any circumstances is dangerous, whether body building or CrossFit.
But CrossFit can make you look better.
So can bodybuilding.
Depends on your definition of better.
