Is it good to meditate after a workout?
In theory, it is a good way to pass time while you cool down.
I've heard that meditating is a good way to improve your metabolism and muscle growth. You can focus on your glutes to accelerate the fat burn there.
That's like the book The Secret. The whole premise was that wishing made it so.
You can focus your energy on areas to heal them if they are hurting, making the blood and life force flow there.
Why do so many non-religious turn around and believe this Buddhism ala yoga stuff? Wishing doesn't make it so, no matter what religion it is.
Yoga isn't religious.
Chakra centers, energy flowing through your body, opening your mind center are all from Hindu beliefs. And Buddhism, which is Hinduism without the caste system.
You can meditate without doing yoga, just as you can do yoga without meditation.
Resting after working out is good, so your heart rate can return to normal and muscles can rest. That's why body builders have rest days.
If you want to meditate, should you do it before or after a workout?
Meditating after you workout makes it easier to get rest time in. If you are trying to meditate first, you aren't going to help your metabolism much though the yoga does give you a good stretch.
Why do you link yoga and meditation so closely?
Because everyone I see meditating is doing it in a Buddhist or yoga style of "Omm". I have yet to see anyone sitting down meditating on Jesus, though jumping up and down shouting to the Lord is so common even Christian comic Tim Hawkins jokes about it.
I heard that meditation makes you more sensitive to endorphins, so the chemical high from working out lasts longer.
Whatever floats your boat and fits your schedule. Obviously, I'm not going to convert you to any other belief system.
